The southern scenic area boasts an abundant natural resource and
a concentration of cultural landscape. With hills and forests in the
east, and the Yangtze River to its northwest, this area is
transversely run through by the New Qinhuai River.
The southern scenic area is composed of two strips: One stretches
from south to north while the other from east to west. From north to
south in turn extend numerous tourist attractions including Yuhuatai
scenic area, the Chrysanthemum Terrace, the Temple of Flower
Goddess, the Tomb of Borneo King, the Longquan Temple, Jiangjun
Mountain, Niushou Mountain and other attractions. From East to West
extends the 12-km-long New Qinhuai River. People in these two strips
may carry out a combined development of urban sightseeing
agriculture and eco-tourism by making full use of historical
heritages, traditional cultures, as well as hill and forest
resources.
The New Qinhuai River Scenic Area: A five-km New Qinhuai River
Scenic Area is planned to be built, incorporating imitated ancient
boat-rowing in the New Qinhuai River and water & land
recreation, leisure and shopping along the 12-km-long New Qinhuai
River, which reflects numerous lush green trees and small hills on
its both sides.
The Tomb of Borneo King: As a tomb of the king of ancient Borneo
(today’s Brunei), the Tomb of Borneo, situated in Yixi Village of
Tiexin Bridge Street, is a cultural unit under national protection.
Around this tomb, a Brunei Theme Park is planned to be built,
representing the regional features and cultural landscapes of
Brunei.
The Dashi Lake Eco-tourism Vacation Resort: Dashi Lake,
surrounded by numerous hills, is situated near Jiangjun Mountain
Scenic Area in the Tiexin Bridge Street. Recreational vacation
resorts, fishing centers, open-air bathing centers, motels, ball
fields and tea plantations will be built as planned.
Jiangjun Mountain Scenic Area: Jiangjun Mountain, situated near
Tiexin Bridge Street, is named after General Yuefei who defeated his
dead enemy, Wuzhu of the Jin Dynasty, about eight hundred years ago.
It enjoys an honorary title of “Jiuzhaigou of Nanjing” (Jiuzhaigou
is a famous hill & water scenic spot in Sichuan Province) for
the beauty of its hills and rivers as well as the wonder of its fir
forest on the water.
