Established in 2000, Yuhuatai Economic and Technological
Development Zone is situated to the southwest of main urban area of
Nanjing. It occupies an area of 28 sq.km, with the New Qinhuai River
to its north, Meishan Hill to its south, Nanjing-Wuhu Highway to its
east and the Yangtze River to its west. It is also closely connected
with the Hexi New Area, which is a new urban area of Nanjing.
Yuhuatai Economic and Technological Development Zone is the
development zone closest to the main urban area of Nanjing, with a
planned population of 350 thousand. The construction of Banqiao New
Town with a planned area of 60 sq.km in this development zone has
created a new opportunity for the development of Yuhuatai Economic
and Technological Development Zone.
This development zone enjoys a prominent geographical advantage
and very convenient and fast communications. Running through this
development zone are the Third Yangtze River Bridge of Nanjing, the
First Circular Road and the Second Circular Road of Nanjing,
Nanjing-Ma’anshan Expressway, Nanjing-Wuhu Highway, Nanjing-Wuhu
Railway and the Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway to be built as
planned. This development zone is an important gate to northern
Anhui province, southern Anhui province and northern Jiangsu
province as well as other areas.
Blessed with a reasonable industrial layout and a prominent
industrial advantage, this development zone is an important
industrial service base for the Hexi New Area of Nanjing and the
Banqiao New Town as well as an important base of modern
manufacturing and logistics for eastern China or even the country as
a whole. There are three key parks being constructed in this
development zone, i.e. 1. Industrial Park: accommodating the
following four industrial bases: Automobile Manufacturing, Iron and
Steel Metallurgy, Power Energy and Comprehensive Processing; 2.
Modern Logistics Park: to bring in modern comprehensive
logistical enterprises with information technology as the platform,
incorporating “commodity trade, product delivery, multi-mode
combined transportation and modern storage”; Forest Park for
Inhabitation: loving and protecting the nature, stressing the basic
demands of people; developing and building urban ecological parks
targeted at tourism, holiday resorts, leisure, recreation and
top-grade inhabitation.
By upholding a development idea of “science and technology,
openness and commerce-first” and emphasizing the establishment of an
investment environment, this development zone has built a
first-phase infrastructure covering 8 sq.km., hence having realized
“seven accesses and site-leveling”(Seven accesses include water,
electricity, gas, heat, road, telecommunication, sewage treatment).
This development zone has also built or will build Suyuan Thermal
Power Plant, Meishan Gas Plant, Meishan Iron and Steel Plant of
Baoshan Group and other large-type bases of basic material,
supplying cheap electricity, gas and iron and steel for the projects
in this zone. Yuhuatai Economic and Technological Development Zone
will become the most important pole of economic growth and window of
opening to outside world in Yuhuatai District.
